AG Merrick Garland is focusing on domestic terror in the Justice Department’s budget. This week, he told Congress-members on the House Appropriations Subcommittee that his agency must have another $85 million over last year’s budget.
Garland claimed the budget increase would include $45 million for the FBI’s domestic terrorism investigations and $40 million for attorneys to process the “increasing” domestic terrorism cases.
“We have a new and accelerating threat and our agency is devoting our resources to defending the nation with respect to it,” Garland said. “The DHS is very important in these areas.”
