VP Kamala Harris paid tribute to fallen soldiers on Sunday. But only after getting slammed for her Memorial Day tweet that ignored America’s veterans.
Enjoy the long weekend. pic.twitter.com/ilGOrod4AW

Her followup tweet read:
Throughout our history our service men and women have risked everything to defend our freedoms and our country. As we prepare to honor them on Memorial Day, we remember their service and their sacrifice.

The Saturday tweet, which featured a photo of Harris smiling and read, “Enjoy the long weekend.” got immediate pushback from twitter users.
What the hell kind of “statement” is this ? I got a more PATRIOTIC message from the guy at the Rental Car place. This is MEMORIAL DAY Weekend KAMALA—-it’s about MEN and WOMEN who FOUGHT AND DIED for Our Country in UNIFORM. https://t.co/YPyGIDOdNy

Americans condemned Harris for not remembering the sacrifices that the “long weekend” is meant to honor.
“Real misfire Kamala. It’s a long weekend but also Memorial Day, which means a lot more that our elected officials should say: a time to honor the millions of troops who have served America and who lost their lives defending our country,” Paul Szoldra, editor of the military site, Task & Purpose, said on Saturday.
Real misfire here. It is a long weekend. It’s also Memorial Day weekend, which means far more that our government officials should acknowledge: a time to remember and honor the millions of Americans who lost their lives in our nation’s defense https://t.co/RCPwPf4TdL https://t.co/xKyyaOkkQA

“Care to tell me WHY we are having this long weekend, Kamala?” Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., asked on Twitter.
