John Ratcliffe, the former Director of National Intelligence, said to Fox News host Maria Bartiromo this Sunday that the Joe Biden White House’s move to buy Chinese drones for federal police was strange and that this move jeopardized United States national security.
Ratcliffe said that the Trump White House flagged the specific China-based company in question over what it called a “moderate confidence” that the Chinese company was giving information on United States critical infrastructure to the Communist Party of China.
The good bit:
“Like so much that Joe Biden and his administration has done concerning national security lately, this makes very little sense,” Ratcliffe stated. “It is harmful to America’s national security. And Chinese drone technology is not as good as United States drone technology. So it is hard to explain what this is about, other than it is in line with the Biden White House taking a softer approach, attempting to promote a fake narrative that somehow China is simply a competitor and not our adversary.”
His full comment:
“Those reports are really accurate as reflected, the Biden White House, through the Secret Service and FBI purchased from DJI, which is a company that the Trump team actually flagged back in 2017, DHS said that the company was using its drones for giving information on United States critical infrastructure to the CCP. And they had moderate confidence, which is why we removed them and basically put forward a policy where we would not use that China-based technology, you outline the type of concerns that Huawei and firms are controlled by the CCP. Like a lot of what the Biden administration has done about national security lately, this does not make much sense. It’s bad for our national security. And also, Chinese drone technology is worse than U.S. technology. So it’s hard to explain who is doing this, other than it is in line with the Biden White House taking a softer approach, attempting to support a fake narrative that China is a competitor and not our adversary. And you would like to think that Covid had taught everyone that, you know, China should not be trusted, and that moves such as this are bad for our national security.”
