Democrat Senator Joe Manchin’s (WV) fundraising has now boomed to $260,000 while going against President Biden’s huge tax and spending welfare program.
Manchin’s Country Roads PAC got 17 contributions for more than $150,000 in Oct. November’s numbers were also impressive with 19 people giving more than $110,000, as reported by CNBC, citing Federal Election Commission documents.
In the four months before October, when the Senate was not working on passing Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion spending bill, the PAC reportedly would not raise any money.
Among the companies that gave money to Manchin are:
- American Express
- Goldman Sachs
- Lockheed Martin
- UnitedHealth Group
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- CNX Resources
- Union Pacific Wells Fargo
- Coal and mining industry PACs
CNBC said that $54,000 of this money was spent on catering, lodging, food, beverages, and golf in Florida, West Virginia, and D.C.
This Sunday, Manchin said on Fox News he would not back Democrats’ $1.9 trillion spending bill, ending months of negotiations between Manchin, liberal House members, the Biden White House, and Democrats in the Senate.
Manchin’s opposition puts him with 50 GOP senators who are against Biden’s extreme legislation in a 50–50 split Senate.
While Senator Manchin has went against the legislation over fears it will boost the 40-year-high inflation and cement the U.S. welfare state, Dem members ridiculed the senator for being disloyal.
“If his remarks on FOX and written comment indicate a stop to that effort, they represent an inexplicable and sudden reversal in his stance, and a breaking of his commitments to President Biden and the Senator’s colleagues in the Senate and the House,” the White House said.
Reports this Monday showed Manchin, who comes from a state where Joe Biden lost by almost 40 percentage points back in 2020, was thinking about becoming an independent.
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) responds to Democrat backlash following his announced opposition to Build Back Better:
“Well, guess what? I’m from West Virginia. I’m not from where they’re from, [where] they can just beat the living crap out of people and think they’ll be submissive.” pic.twitter.com/O9Z91mvPjp

“I am from West Virginia,” he said this week. “I’m not from where there are tons of Democrats, and they can just beat the crap out of citizens and think they will be submissive, period.”
