Data released by Gallup shows that in the first part of 2021, 49 percent of people who expressed a party preference either supported the Dem Party or leaned that way, against 40 percent supported the GOP Party or leaned that way.
But in the ending quarter, Gallup’s survey found that the GOP were on top by 47 percent to 42 percent, a change Gallup said was “a dramatic shift.” The survey said its margin of error was plus or minus one point.
Gallup stressed that GOP members are at levels of support not seen in over 25 years.
Gallup tied this to Americans’ opinions about Joe Biden, noting that former President Trump left office in Jan. 2021.
President Biden entered office with generally high support, only to have that fade as inflation damages Americans finances and the delta and omicron virus variants poked holes in Joe Biden’s claim that he could stop coronavirus.
The Gallup survey highlighted that politically, around 29 percent of the people surveyed identify as Dems, 27 percent as Republicans and 42 percent as independents.
Gallup summed up the whole year in loyalties this way: “In early 2021, Dem strength reached levels not seen in almost a decade. By the third quarter, those gains evaporated as Joe Biden’s job approval went down. The political winds continued to be more favorable to the GOP in the Q4, giving the Republicans an advantage over Dems larger than any they had gotten in over 25 years.”
House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn said Dems must connect with black voters in order to avoid the big losses in November.
“Bleak,” the South Carolina lawmaker called November’s prospects if election legislation is not passed, according to Bloomberg.
“Many base voters are not happy,” Clyburn said. “So if you look at those who are unhappy, the Republicans will never be happy, independents who, you know, pick and decide when to be happy, and black people who need BBB and these election bills to be happy. That will have a very low approval rating.”
Of course, the truth is, Biden has fallen in the polls because he is a terrible President with terrible goals and agenda. And Americans see that now.
