Republicans Launch A New Investigation That Biden Can’t Escape

Over two dozen House GOP members are pushing for the Acting Director of the Office of Management and Budget to give documents connected to an executive order given by President Biden that might require federal officials to work in electioneering activities.

The executive order, put out on March 7, 2021, requires all executive agency heads to “look at the ways in which their agency can, consistent with laws, support voter registration and participation.” The order lists the distribution of voter materials, application help, and the promotion of third-party groups as possible options for agency leaders.

The GOP, led by North Carolina Congressman Ted Budd, questioned the effort and say it is an infringement on the rights of the states to have their own elections.

“It does not make sense for agencies that don’t enforce federal voting laws to work in election-related activities. Commanding every federal group to create a plan to engage in this sort of election activity is a blatant overreach of their authority and power,” they said.

Biden and VP Kamala Harris are currently pushing for Democratic senators to stop the filibuster for the purpose of enacting two bills that would essentially nationalize America’s elections. The laws, which are opposed by all GOP members in both Congressional chambers, would form a national election holiday, reinstate DOJ pre-clearance rules, and prevent ballot-harvesting, among other measures. Top Dems have said that future elections cannot be fair without this legislation.

“President Joe Biden’s executive order empowering all government agencies at the federal level to act in electioneering raises serious legal, ethical, and constitutional worries. The American public need to know if the federal government is being weaponized to help get Democrats elected and to undermine state election security laws,” Budd said to conservative reporters.

The GOP is requesting information about the steps that federal agencies have used to comply with the order, and the process by which third-party groups will get approved to participate in agency voter drives.

This all comes at a time when Joe Biden is sinking in the polls at a faster and faster rate.
