President Biden fumbled through his big State of the Union speech this week, flubbing a few lines from his already prepared lines and adding lines that didn’t make sense.
This is a list of his worse mistakes:
1. Biden mistakenly said “Iranian people” and not “Ukrainian people.”
“Putin might circle Kyiv using tanks, but he won’t ever gain the souls and hearts of the Iranian people,” he said.
He was supposed to say “hearts and souls of Ukrainians” from his prepared text.
2. Biden mentions “a pound of Ukrainian people”
Biden said, “a pound of Ukrainian people.” His text that was prepared said “proud.”
Biden later tried to fix what he said by saying Ukrainians were battling “pound for pound” with “all of their ‘earnagy’”
3. Biden struggles with his demand to stop using the term “Rust Belt”
Biden struggled through a line that should have been easy about encouraging midwestern manufacturing, using a phrase coined by Dem. Senator Sherrod Brown (OH):
“It’s time to see the uh uh what used to be said to be the Rust Belt become the uh uh um the home of uh the crucial recovery in manufacturing.”
4. Biden wants to “investigate” the police instead of “investing.”
The pres. made an intense case for “investigating” community police and crime prevention, but from his prepared text he was supposed to say “investing”.
“I know what works — investigating crime prevention, and community policing, cops who walk the beat,” he said.
5. Biden stumbles over his idea that you cannot build a wall to stop coronavirus
“You can not build a wall that is high enough to keep a-a-a a vaccine away. The vaccine can stop these diseases from spreading,” he said.
Joe Biden basically talked about no one being able to build a wall that is high enough to stop covid-19, but this was not in his planned text. He failed at making his point.
6. Biden slurs the phrase “health premiums”
The pres. said “health progremiums.”
7. Biden mentions “Russian Roubelle”
Biden blundered with how he said the word “ruble,” often referred to in the Russian assault on Ukraine.
8. Biden mentions the “infects” of climate change and not the “effects”
“We will do it to get through the devastating infects of climate change and support environmental justice,” he said.
9. Biden struggles to speak about the number of corporations in America.
“More companies are incorporated in the United States than every other state in the United States combined, and we still won thirty-six years in a row,” Pres. Joe Biden said.
Based on his rhetoric past, the pres. was probably talking about Delaware, his home state, but he did not correct himself. It wasn’t in his prepared text.
10. ‘Go git ‘im’
Biden inexplicably ended his speech using the phrase “Go git ‘im” even though it was not in the prepared speech and it was not clear who he was wanting Congress to “git.”
