Regardless of who you are or what state you live in, it’s safe to say COVID is over. Oh, you may still have to wear a mask to board an airplane (for now), but the “pandemic” is no longer valuable as a means for Democrats to exploit the public for more power. Cases are dropping and the latest version of Omicron might be more infectious, but dramatically less deadly (for a strain that was about as bad as a common cold). Even in deep-blue states where hysteria reached a fevered-pitched, Americans are just about down worrying about the China flu.
Someone needs to tell that to Anthony Fauci. The man is largely hated by Americans for being the first and biggest proponent for lockdowns, masks, and forced vaccinations. It seems like the man got off of depriving Americans of their prosperity and liberty. He especially loved all the glory the shallow liberal media showered on him. But his reputation was shattered when released emails revealed he lied again and again. Now, he is grasping at what remains of his dignity by claiming the latest (weak) strain of COVID might require a return to all those restrictions (that never worked in the first place).
But Sen. Ted Cruz is not having it.
On Sunday, after Dr. Anthony Fauci cited the Centers for Disease Control saying that if the United States saw a significant surge from a COVID-19 variant, particularly one that might result in an increase in hospitalizations, restrictions on the public might be reinstituted, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) fired on Twitter, “Hell no. For petty tyrants like Fauci, they only have one tool in their toolbox: authoritarian restrictions. Enough is enough.” [Source: Daily Wire]
It almost sounds as if Fauci is upset the pandemic is over. He admits that this latest variant is weaker and cases are down. But he said this is not time to “declare victory.” For men like Fauci, that time will never come. It’s far more valuable to milk this virus again and again, to puff up his ego and draw as much attention to himself.
What’s so pathetic about his response is the claim that we might have to return to restrictions that crippled our country for almost 2 years. Did anyone come out better since 2020 (aside from con artists like Fauci)? Are we better off now, than before there were forced lockdowns, mask mandates, and threats of firings if we didn’t get vaccinated?
Did any of that really help the pandemic? Not if you look at the numbers. States with lax or no restrictions had the same pattern as states with liberty-killing restrictions. We’ve all been through that. By now, we have to admit that our government’s “response” to COVID did little to help. But it did help Democrats win elections and consolidate power for a year or two.
Fauci is simply watching his influence dwindle by the day. He waited too long to release a book. By the time he does release a memoir, nobody is going to care.
Boo-hoo.
