A Twitter post from the company denounced the legislation and mentioned its commitment to LGBTQ+ rights.
DeSantis replied to this comment, saying that Disney had “crossed the line.”
“I believe they went over the line,” he said at a media conference, according to Politico. “When individuals are threatening our parents and our children, we’re going to make sure we fight back.”
The controversial law does not really say anything about “gay” in it.
In kindergarten through third grade, lessons on sexual orientation or gender identity are expressly prohibited by the bill.
In addition, in various grades, lessons are prohibited unless they are “age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate.”
According to legal experts, the inclusion of “don’t say gay” in the bill is a “distraction,” which simply implies a political position rather than a genuine legal threat against speech, according to NBC News.
Disney, on the other hand, has come out against the legislation, claiming it is discriminatory toward the LGBTQ+ community.
DeSantis slammed Disney’s bid to repeal the legislation as deceptive.
“For Disney to say the legislation should never have passed, and they’ll work to repeal it — I think this is fundamentally dishonest. And I believe that it went over the line,” DeSantis said at a media conference in New York.
“This state is run for the benefit of the people of Florida. It is not governed by corporate executives from California. This state does not belong to them. They do not control this state,” Governor DeSantis said.
Democrats never stop to corrupt children in schools. In the past years they have been in hot water for their pushing of anti-white propaganda onto white kids. Their desire to attack and psychologically manipulate kids must be stopped. Republicans have to stick together to make this happen. DeSantis is one of the few GOP Governors in the country that has put up any resemblance of a fight.
