One of the (few) results of John Durham’s years-long investigation into Russiagate has been the prosecution of Michael Sussmann. The former Clinton lawyer is being charged with lying to the FBI. And while he is facing what is merely a process crime, a few good revelations have come out of the trial.
Clinton’s former campaign manager, Robby Mook, testified recently. He revealed that the campaign and Democrat staff were unsure about the “data” that accused then-candidate Donald Trump of working with a Russian bank. But the information was leaked to the media, thanks to the approval of Hillary Clinton.
That leaked data was just the start of a large campaign by the Democrats and the media to frame Trump as a Russian puppet, even after he was elected. Now, Donald Trump is blasting the left.
Former President Donald Trump reacted to the bombshell testimony out of the trial of Michael Sussmann that Hillary Clinton herself approved the dissemination of false information alleging a covert communications channel between the Trump Organization and a Russian bank to the media.
Trump told Fox News Digital that the entire Russia investigation is “one of the greatest political scandals in history,” and that he will “never” get his “reputation fully back.” […]
“For three years, I had to fight her off, and fight those crooked people off, and you’ll never get your reputation fully back.”
“Where do I get my reputation back?” Trump said again.
“I had to fight them off,” Trump said. “And if we had real leadership, instead of people like Mitch McConnell, they would do something about it. And guys like Bill Barr. They would have done something about it.” [Source: Fox News]
Trump went on to say that the resources used by the FBI to hunt down these false accusations against him could have been used to confront “real danger” from Russia. Instead, they wasted time and money on a lie. In light of what we know about Russia now, that is a damning rebuke.
Many people believe that it was Hillary Clinton who originally created the Russia collusion lie. We know she hired Fusion GPS and others to compile a “dossier” framing Trump as a Russian cohort. And now, thanks to Mook’s testimony, it was her idea to leak these lies to the media in order to discredit Trump before and after the election.
Trump claimed, “Where do I get my reputation back?” After years of media slander, there are many who believe Trump was a Russian puppet. Democrats in the House continue to make those claims, even when the “evidence” has been debunked as fake. Trump also blamed the lack of “real leadership” in the GOP, blaming McConnell and Bill Barr for not confronting this way back in 2016 and later.
I know what most Americans are probably thinking right now. “Why hasn’t Hillary faced any consequences over this?” And that is a good question. If there is ample evidence to suggest Hillary tried to meddle with the election by spreading lies, she should face some kind of accountability.
But with the kind of folks in office right now, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
