On Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke to MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” about the upcoming midterm elections, in which Republicans are aiming to regain control of the House and Senate.
“I’m not concerned about the outcome of this election,” she added, emphasizing that her party had a “non-threatening message that is progressive and courageous.”
“We’re not talking about history. We’re talking about the future. According to history, a president’s seat count drops in an off-year election. However, this president did not only help us keep the House; he also won it,” Pelosi claimed. “We aided him in winning the election. And those of our candidates who were members and won in Trump districts with Trump on the ballot are in excellent position. But we want more. We want more. We must offset some things, but we want more.”
“I have no intention of losing this election,” she continued. “One election at a time, we’ll win it. With our mobilization, we own the ground. We’ll have a non-threatening message that is progressive and bold yet non-menacing; and enough money to do so. They’ll have an endless supply of cash; we will have sufficient resources, and we will win. It’s critical for our nation’s well-being. Our democracy is on the line; our freedom hangs in the balance.”
Pelosi is clearly delusional. Republicans are polling much better than they were in 2016 and have a strong chance of winning back control of the House and Senate. She is in denial if she thinks her party’s message is anything but liberal and extreme. It is also amusing that she says the Democrats will have enough money to compete when they are being massively outspent by the Republicans.
The truth is Trump candidates are already winning in districts that were never supposed to be competitive. For example, in the recent Pennsylvania special election, the Republican won in a district that Trump had lost by 20 points. This is a sign that the Democrats are in trouble and Pelosi is in denial if she thinks otherwise.
