January 6th Proves To Be More Embarrassing Than We Expected

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), chairperson of the January 6 Committee, said there would not be criminal referrals from the DOJ to former President Trump or anyone else.

Cheney, one of two Trump-hating RINOs hand-picked by the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for the committee responded with:

The committee has decided to recommend that numerous former Trump aides be held in contempt of Congress, and the U.S. House has voted for several contempt recommendations, two of which have resulted in prosecutions, contrary to DOJ’s practice of declining such referrals.

Some in the opposition and many in the media have been urging the committee to provide a basis for the DOJ to indict Trump. The lack of a criminal referral does not guarantee that the DOJ will not bring charges against Trump or his associates; according to reports, the department is drawing evidence from transcripts of closed-door testimony given by members of Congress in its criminal prosecutions.

However, the rivalry between Cheney and Thompson has resulted in the committee having two opposing voices for the first time.

Cheney is one of two House Republicans who have been critical of Trump since he left office.  The other is Adam Kinzinger of Illinois.

Both have been critical of Trump’s alleged role in the January 6 “insurrection”, with Cheney going so far as to vote to impeach him.

The two have also been critical of Trump’s claims that the election was stolen.

Trump has responded by calling both lawmakers out as “RINOs” and “traitors.”

Trump is being accused of inciting the January 6 “insurrection” at the Capitol. He has denied any responsibility for the violence that happened that day.

Democrats are obviously using the January 6th trial as a show trial to humiliate and damage Trump politically.

The goal is to make him look bad so he will be less popular and have less influence. This is also a way for Democrats to fundraise off of Trump’s name.
