Despite being fully vaccinated and receiving two boosters, Dr. Anthony Fauci, a prominent public health official, has turned out to be COVID-19 positive.
The National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases announced this week that Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., the agency’s director and Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden, was found to be positive for COVID-19 using a rapid antigen test.
“He is completely immunized and has had two booster shots. He is now having mild symptoms. Dr. Fauci will work from home after being quarantined. He has not had any close contact with President Biden or other high-ranking government officials at the White House. When he tests negative according to CDC COVID-19 guidelines and the advice from his physician, Dr. Fauci will then return to the NIH.”
Despite being vaccinated, a number of individuals including Fauci, who has led NIAID for over three decades, have tested positive for COVID.
Secretary of Health and Human Services of the United States Xavier Becerra tested positive for COVID in May and then again this week. He was “completely vaccinated and boosted” both times and has had mild symptoms, according to comments from the assistant secretary of public affairs Sarah Lovenheim.
Justin Trudeau, the Canadian prime minister, recently announced that he had been diagnosed with COVID-19 — the revelation came after Trudeau had previously been diagnosed with the virus in January.
“I’ve been diagnosed with COVID-19. I’ll follow public health guidelines and quarantine myself. I’m feeling fine, but it’s because I had my vaccinations. So, get vaccinated if you haven’t already, and get boosted if you can. Let’s safeguard our healthcare system as well as each other and ourselves,” Trudeau stated in a tweet this week.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has long backed the COVID-19 vaccination, delivered a talk during Princeton University’s 2022 Class Day celebration last month in which he warned against embracing “the normalization of falsehoods.”
“Unfortunately, certain elements of our society have grown increasingly immune to a cacophony of untruths and lies that are commonly disregarded, ominously leading to … acceptance of what I refer to as the normalization of untruths. We see this occurring on a daily basis with false information propagated through a variety of communication platforms by various people, including sad to say, important elected officials in positions of authority,” Fauci added.
