For a while there, it looked like Americans had an ally in Democrat Joe Manchin. The West Virginian senator stood up to his increasingly leftist party by refusing to support their radical agenda in the Senate. But he stabbed us all in the back to vote for a bill that will increase taxes, destroy our energy sector, and make inflation much worse.
So, how has that political suicide worked out for him? Not great. NBC News conducted a poll gauging the popularity of numerous politicians. Yes, Joe Biden’s approval is as low as ever. But coming in at the very worst in the so-called moderate from West Virginia.
West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin is the country’s least popular politician, according to a new national poll.
The NBC News poll released Tuesday shows just 11% of registered voters have positive feelings about the Democrat senator in one of the country’s most Republican-leaning states.
Roughly one-third of respondents – 34% – had negative feelings for Manchin, resulting in him having a net-negative rating of 23%. [Source: Just the News]
Joe Manchin has 11% positive responses and 34% negative, giving him a net-negative -23% rating. That clocks in below Donald Trump and Joe Biden, who suffers from a -8 rating.
It must be said that, since this is NBC News, this poll skews liberal. The mainstream media outlet would have weighed this poll by oversampling Democrats and liberal-leaning voters. Even still, Manchin is the least liked out of all D.C. politicians.
That means, he can’t even get Democrat voters to like him. He betrayed the folks back home (a largely conservative state), to appease the radical left. But that didn’t win over liberal voters, who seem to hate him as much as conservatives.
It was reported that Joe Manchin agreed to Biden’s tax-and-spend bill in exchange for a bill that will allow a pipeline to be built in West Virginia. Maybe he thought that would win over WV voters, since that project could help salvage their fossil fuel industry.
But House Democrats have already vowed to kill that deal, when it comes to their chamber. So, Manchin betrayed the entire country… for nothing.
And that doesn’t even address the massive taxes Biden is hitting oil and gas companies—which makes a pipeline a small victory anyway.
It was always likely that Manchin was pressured into backing this bill because of the impending midterms. Democrats are facing heavy losses and needed some kind of win going into November. Manchin would have been pushed by Chuck Schumer and other party leaders to back this bill, perhaps to salvage their chances.
This means, that Manchin is a coward who is easily bullied. Does West Virginia really want a man like that representing them?
