We now know without a shadow of a doubt that closing schools for over two years was a terrible mistake. Sure, most people with brains could have told you that back in 2020. But Democrats ignored all common sense and logic to force children into their homes.
All the Zoom classes in the world (most of which latest only an hour a day) could not make up for real, in-person learning. Because a new report reveals damning evidence of the left’s failure.
On Thursday, the National Center for Education Statistics released a report showing that, during the pandemic, American students’ reading proficiency dropped to a two-decade low and mathematics scores falling for the first time ever. [Source: Fox News]
This is no surprise to parents, who struggled to ensure their children’s educations while still holding down jobs. Corrupt teachers’ unions (led by liberals) kept schools closed so they could negotiate for better pay. Only after parents pushed back did Democrat-run states reopen.
But now, the left is trying to gaslight America by claiming they were the ones responsible for schools reopening.
You really can’t make this up.
White House officials and Democratic lawmakers have attempted in recent days to reframe their position on school reopening policies amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Democrats have argued that they always supported students returning to in-person instruction and that President Biden’s massive $1.9 trillion reconciliation package in March 2021 helped facilitate schools reopening nationwide, even though Republican-led states like Florida succeeded in returning students to classrooms well before the Biden stimulus package…
In addition, schools in states that voted for former President Trump in 2020 reopened 75% of the time while those that voted for Biden reopened 37.6% of the time during the 2020-2021 academic year, according to education nonprofit The 74. [Source: Fox News]
How dishonest can this party get? Democrats went as far as to say Republicans were murdering people for reopening schools as early as they did. Florida led the way, ending lockdowns only weeks after they began.
For that, Florida’s Gov. DeSantis received intense slander from Democrats.
Most Republican states lead the way to reopen schools. Democrat states were far behind. Only after parents demanded schools to reopen, did liberal school boards comply. If teachers’ unions had their way, schools would still be closed (trust us on that one).
Yet today, the White House has the gall to claim that Biden’s reckless spending bill is what reopened schools. And that’s proof Democrats cared about keeping schools open, not Republicans.
Honestly, you really have to be a low-life to lie this much.
But school districts only used 12.7% of the funding from Biden’s spending bill. Meaning, that it did little to help schools reopen.
Democrats are blatantly lying, expecting voters to be too stupid to think otherwise. We know why they are doing this. They refuse to take the blame for the devastating results of school closures. All to salvage their chances this November.
But do voters really want to re-elect people who shut down their cities at the blink of an eye? I doubt it.
