The 2022 midterms will do more than decide Congress for the next two years. They will shape local and state governments for years to come. One of the most important races will determine who runs Texas.
Republican Gov. Greg Abbott is running against far-left socialist Robert Francis O’Rourke. Calling himself “Beto” (to trick Hispanic voters), O’Rourke has tried to win an election for years. He failed to beat Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018. He failed to become president in 2020. Now, he is trying to turn Texas into California (with extreme environmental, immigration, and gun policies).
But a new poll revealed Texans’ top concerns going into the election. And who they trusted more.

Immigration and border security topped the list, as 26 percent chose it as the top issue. The state economy came in second with 13 percent choosing that issue…
On immigration and border security, specifically, Abbott leads O’Rourke by double digits — 48 percent to 36 percent. The survey notes this is the “largest advantage either enjoys on any issue.” […]
Abbott also enjoys a double-digit advantage on the state economy, leading the Democrat 46 percent to 35 percent. Additionally, the Republican governor leads O’Rourke on public safety (+eight), property taxes (+five), and voting and elections (+three). [Source: Breitbart]
It’s not a shock to find Texans trust Abbott more on these top issues than an untested, far-left candidate like O’Rourke.
O’Rourke is a progressive Democrat that promises to let millions of illegal aliens enter the country. He has no intentions of stopping Biden’s open border agenda. In fact, he would roll out the red carpet for illegals, giving them more privileges than native Texans.
And don’t even get me started on the economy. O’Rourke is no different than his communist buddies in California. If he were to become governor, he would raise taxes, engage in reckless spending, and drown Texas in job-destroying regulation.
O’Rourke would decimate Texas’s economy, which is one of the few thriving under Biden’s mismanagement. All the jobs and businesses flocking to Texas from other states would make an about-face and flee.
Meanwhile, illegal aliens would flood the schools, overwhelm the hospitals, and take whatever jobs were left.
The rest of O’Rourke’s agenda just isn’t consistent with Texan values. He is a far-left gun control advocate, promising to take away residents’ AR-15s. He would force schools to teach critical race theory and transgender ideology.
And that’s all for starters. O’Rourke would destroy all the good Texans have worked so hard to achieve.
But that would only be the beginning of the pain.
