Some Republican voters were worried about the newly-installed Governor of Virginia, Glenn Youngkin. Although he enjoyed an endorsement by Donald Trump, the man was hardly considered a “MAGA” Republican. And some within the party wondered if he was really going to do right by Virginia residents.
Well, we can say in one instance, the naysayers are wrong. Not long ago, the governor supported a bill similar to the Parental Rights Act passed in Florida. The bill would protect parents’ rights in regard to students’ gender views. Government-run public schools will not be allowed to interfere with that.
And recently, he defied the liberal media to support his plans.
Virginia Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin on Sunday defended the parents’ rights policy he instituted in his state…
“[P]arents have a fundamental right to be engaged in their children’s lives,” Youngkin said. “And, oh, by the way, children have a right to have parents engaged in their life. And we needed to fix a wrong…children don’t belong to the state. They belong to families. And so, in these most important decisions, step one has to be to engage parents, not to the exclusion of a trusted teacher or an adviser, but to make sure that parents are involved in their children’s lives.”

However, Youngkin stressed that the policy would keep biological males out of girls’ sports.
“I do believe that it’s unfair for girls to have biological boys play sports with biological girls. There are sports with segregated — with segregated sexes for those sports. And those — those sports should be honored that way… Again, there’s a commonsense approach here to this. And I do think we have to respect girls as well here.” [Source: Daily Wire]
Youngkin is no Ron DeSantis. He is not willing to take the fight to the radical left and win. But he is no cheerleader for the radical left. The bill he passed prevents government-run public schools to undermine a parent’s role in a child’s development–especially when it comes to gender issues.
In many states (even red ones) liberal teachers are convincing children they are transgender. They counsel them and even provide medication–without consulting their parents.
Youngkin’s new policy bans such an insane idea. And he slammed the left’s going sentiment that children belong to the state.
If most Democrats had it their way, these days, parents would not be parents. Children would have to say, do, and believe whatever the left told them. Any parent that gets in the way would be undermined, shamed, or even arrested.
The idea of personal freedom from a tyrannical government is becoming hostile to the left’s agenda. Youngkin is not about to let that be the norm in Virginia.
Now, the rest of sane America needs to do the same.
