After Florida Governor Scores Major Win–He Makes a Startling Announcement

Let’s be honest. Nobody questioned whether or not Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis was going to win. The question was only by how much. Since entering office, this conservative rockstar has reshaped the state. He won voters’ favor when he refused to lockdown Florida during COVID. At the same time, he helped protect the most vulnerable from the disease.

He also stunned critics with his recent hurricane response. DeSantis lead a historic recovery effort after the massive storm slammed the state–after liberals predicted he’d fail. His many achievements won over even liberal-leaning voters, as they watched their governor work around the clock for them.

And, after winning by a huge margin, the governor made a bold statement.

The speech comes after DeSantis stunned the nation, winning his re-election campaign by a projected 19.5 points, a margin that even DeSantis’ top allies did not see coming. The governor, who won a tight race in 2018 by approximately 30,000 votes, blew away opponent Charlie Crist by more than 1.5 million votes…

“We made promises to the people of Florida and we have delivered on those promises. And so today, after four years, the people have delivered their verdict. Freedom is here to stay…

“… I am honored by your support, and I look forward to the road ahead. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race in this first term. And I have kept the faith. We’ve accomplished more than anybody thought possible four years ago, but we’ve got so much more to do and I have only begun to fight.” [Source: Daily Wire]

How big was DeSantis’ win Tuesday night? He won all of Florida’s precincts, except for four. He even won Miami-Dade, a heavily Latino and liberal county, by 55.29% to 43.96%. DeSantis blew his rival out of the water, securing a massive victory and proving he’s reshaped the state completely.

During his victory speech, he honored the people of Florida and what they overcame in recent years. He took a shot at governors who criticized him, by talking about the many Americans who fled blue states to relocate to Florida. No doubt, DeSantis was thinking about Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is bitter over losing thousands of California residents.

At the end of his speech, DeSantis vowed to do much more. He said he has only “begun to fight,” signaling greater achievements in his second term. The words also suggest larger political aspirations for the future. At least, that’s what some people are speculating.

After the results of this year’s 2022 midterms, many are thinking DeSantis is now the clear Republican leader. Donald Trump appears to be fading in the background as DeSantis dominates the conversation. DeSantis has yet to make any 2024 announcements, but many seem to think that after his major victory, it is only a matter of time.

We’ll have to keep watching.
