This was the very reason liberals didn’t want Elon Musk to buy Twitter. The billionaire businessman had vowed to make Twitter a free speech platform again, the very thing liberals worked so hard to destroy. And they knew, that if Elon got his hands on the platform, all their hard work censoring speech and shutting down the First Amendment (to help Democrats) would be undone.
And this weekend, Musk did it. He announced that several notable accounts which had been banned from the platform were reinstated, including Jordan Peterson and the satire website The Babylon Bee. He also posted a poll to his millions of followers, asking if he should reinstate Donald Trump.

When the poll ended, over 15 million users voted. And 51.8% of them voted “Yes” to bringing Trump back on the platform. Musk shrewdly used this as justification for unlocking Trump’s account.

Liberals haven’t been this upset since Trump won the 2016 Election. Even though it has little bearing on the country (or their personal lives), liberals were outraged that Musk reinstated Trump on Twitter. (A simple survey of Trump’s tweets just before his ban revealed he did not do the very thing Twitter accused him of doing–inciting the January 6th Riot. In fact, he did just the opposite).
So, the big question is, will Trump return to his Twitter account? People asked him immediately after the big news. This was his answer.
45th President Donald Trump addressed questions about Twitter owner Elon Musk’s poll on the platform to bring Trump back on…
“Truth Social is through the roof,” he said, “it’s doing phenomenally well, the press needs to talk about it, but it’s doing phenomenally well. I think engagement is much better than it is with Twitter. And It’s taking care of voices that really want to be taken care of, and smart voices, brilliant voices, voices that in many cases are both sides,” he said.
“Truth Social has been very, very powerful, very very strong, and I’ll be staying there. But I hear we’re getting a big vote to also go back on Twitter. I don’t see it, because I don’t see any reason for it.” [Source: The Post Millennial]
As usual, Trump used the opportunity to say much more than what was asked of him. Trump applauded Musk for buying Twitter and making numerous changes already. And he seemed happy that users voted in favor of his account being unbanned and that Musk followed through. But Trump seemed to suggest he was going to stay on his own platform TRUTH Social, rather than return to Twitter.
His answer, however, didn’t shut the door forever. As we all know, people including celebrities use more than one social network. Nothing says Trump can’t use both Twitter and TRUTH. In fact, as his 2024 campaign heats up in the coming months, he might need Twitter as a critical way of engaging with potential voters.
Right now, Trump says he doesn’t “see any reason” for using Twitter. That might change very soon. For the moment, he is staying away so as not to take momentum away from his social network. But in the coming months? Weeks? Days?
Don’t be surprised to see Trump tweeting pretty soon.
