After RINOs and Democrats Tried to Bail Out the Media–a Small Group of Republicans Fought Back

Democrats only have a little bit of time before they lose control of Congress. So, they are trying to ram through one last bill–the National Defense Authorization Act. The goal of this bill is to keep our military funded. Yet, it seems Democrats were going to use this bill to force through a measure to bail out the failed mainstream media.

Democrats were trying to sneak the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act into this military bill. This measure would have given outdated, corrupt, liberal-controlled media outlets the power to bargain with Big Tech. It would have given these evil corporations tremendous power over tech companies and online providers.

And, big surprise, RINO Mitch McConnell was trying to make it happen. But a small band of Republicans refused to sit back and let Congress bail out the media. And they won.

Congressional leaders stripped from the annual defense package a controversial proposal that would have allowed media organizations to create cartels to collectively bargain with Big Tech companies, text of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) released on Tuesday evening shows…

The removal of the proposal is a massive win for conservatives after sweeping criticism from across the political spectrum came in in the wake of reports that Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell had caved to Democrats on this, but particularly criticism among Republicans, who were shocked leaders had agreed to include the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA) in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Several GOP senators joined in the chorus of critics in public and in private, ripping the push to shred and delay the release of the NDAA’s final text by more than a full day and throwing the final weeks of this lame duck Congress into disarray. [Source: Breitbart]

Big surprise. McConnell caved to Democrats to give them what they wanted. Had the JCPA gone through, it would have been a massive windfall to Democrat-controlled media companies. It would have essentially given them power over much of what you see online. Democrats in Congress didn’t mind that. It would have only helped them.

For McConnell to let this happen was reprehensible. But only a few Republicans stood up to Democrats, forcing them to remove this measure from the military bill.

McConnell even overrode Kevin McCarthy, his counterpart in the House, to bow to the left’s scheme. Not only were people outraged that Democrats tried to pull this stunt because it had nothing to do with funding the military. But people pointed out that a loophole in JCPA would boost the Communist Chinese Party, which has fingers deep inside American media.

Only the quick, tireless work of Senate Republicans stopped this measure from going through. But Democrats are far from finished fighting to bail out and reward their dishonest allies in the media. The fight will certainly rage again in the future.
