If you’ve been paying attention to what’s been going on at the House of Representatives this week, you’re probably just as frustrated as the rest of America. After fighting to regain the House majority, Republicans have devolved into petty bickering. Just 20 House Republicans refuse to vote for Kevin McCarthy as Speaker, leaving Congress in gridlock.
Democrats are making a mockery of the GOP, thanks to this group of “conservatives.” They are willing to grind the government to a standstill. But they have not explained what they really want out of all this fighting. Fox News host Sean Hannity grilled Rep. Lauren Boebert, one of the 20 who are upending our government. She refused to give a straight answer, devolving into an argument.
Fox News host Sean Hannity grilled Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) during an interview Wednesday evening over why she was not backing Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) bid for House speaker…
“You don’t have the votes and it’s time to withdraw. He has 203. Your side has 20,” Hannity said. “Why is it time for him to withdraw and not you when he has so many more votes?”
Hannity repeatedly asked how the opposition to McCarthy planned on getting more then 20 votes over the course of the 10-minute interview.
“Let’s have a final answer. Who do you want?” Hannity asked. “Who will you only support to be speaker? It’s not that hard.”
Boebert declined to answer the question, but added that the candidate “doesn’t even have to be a solid conservative.” […]
“If by Friday, you and your group of 20 don’t have a name with 30 votes, is it time for you to withdraw? And if not, why do you support a double standard?”
Boebert dodged the question. [Source: Daily Wire]
This is pretty pathetic. Rep. Boebert, who prides herself as a freedom-support conservative, is one of 20 Republicans refusing to vote for Kevin McCarthy as Speaker. McCarthy has been the House Minority Leader for years. His work helped many of these Republicans win their elections and flip the House.
Yet they are opposing his election for no reason. Hannity forced Boebert to explain what their plan was. They are only 20. They cannot elect someone else as Speaker. But she refused to answer his questions and instead repeat the same empty talking points.
What the hell is going on? Do these Republicans want Democrats to take over? Democrats have plenty of problems, but at least they can unite for the good of the party. But, once again, Republicans are proving they care more about getting into the limelight than actually working to help the country.
Boebert’s refusal to give a straight answer was telling. It seems these 20 Republicans only want to spread chaos to get their names out there. But it only serves to humiliate the party and give Joe Biden the upper hand.
Maybe that’s what they really want?
