Democrats will probably never forgive Elon Musk for what he’s done. Not only has he exposed how liberals in the federal government were violating the First Amendment rights of Americans. But he has eliminated many of the censors who worked at the company.
The dramatic changes to personnel at Twitter ensure that the social network no longer has the manpower to shut down free speech for American users. The goons that previously reviewed users, looking for “violations” to ban users are gone. This has resulted in major shifts in how American users communicate on the platform. They no longer fear a leftist will “shadow ban” them for speaking their mind.
But Musk is far from finished.
On Friday night, Twitter CEO Elon Musk made more cuts to the company’s Trust and Safety Team overseeing global content moderation, hate speech and harassment, along with cuts from the teams in global appeals and state media and from the misinformation division…
Former head of Twitter Trust and Safety Yoel Roth left the company in November and was a central figure in the Twitter Files, a series of reports detailing conversations at Twitter concerning the company’s efforts towards information suppression, censorship, and collusion with government agencies over several years.
Bloomberg reports the cuts “affected workers in the company’s Dublin and Singapore offices” and included “Nur Azhar Bin Ayob, the head of site integrity for Twitter’s Asia-Pacific region, a relatively recent hire; and Analuisa Dominguez, Twitter’s senior director of revenue policy.” [Source: The Post Millennial]
Wow. Musk has fired many of the folks responsible for censoring Twitter users all over the world. Don’t let the terms fool you. Twitter’s “Trust and Safety Team” was really a board of censors, dedicated to restricting the speech of anyone who got “out of line.”
Their goal to stop “hate speech and harassment” was just a cover to censor views the leftists at the company didn’t like. Anyone who expressed an opinion that was right of center–or an opinion that counter their government’s narrative–was silenced by the company.
This wasn’t just going on in America. Governments from around the world were colluding with Twitter to stop “misinformation.” But this “misinformation” just happened to be opinions and facts that undermined political parties’ agenda.
The European Union is constantly suing big tech companies, to get them to control content online. But Musk’s recent move reduces the number of people at Twitter tasked with censoring users in other countries.
So, not only is Musk fighting for free speech in America, he just took a step to restore free speech to the entire world.
