News came out this week that Joe Biden had been keeping classified documents at an office at the University of Pennsylvania. The revelation of this discovery has stirred up a hornet’s nest for the left. Just a few months ago, they were accusing Trump of treason for doing much the same–despite the fact that the former president claimed he had declassified all of the documents.
The Biden administration is scrambling to cover up this embarrassing incident. But Republicans are not taking this sitting down. Trump himself pounced on this news, proving that Biden–as vice president–did not have the power to declassify those documents.

Trump is pointing out that this scandal has larger implications than we might at first realize. Democrats accused Trump of trying to sell secrets to Russia or other foreign powers. That was proven false. But now, it looks like Biden’s think tank–which was holding onto classified documents–was being funded by China.
There is a possibility that some of those secrets made their way into Chinese hands. That warrants an investigation, right? The DOJ agrees and they just picked what could be a Biden enemy to investigate.
Attorney General Merrick Garland tapped a Trump-appointed U.S. attorney to investigate the discovery of classified documents at a pro-Biden think tank Monday.
John Lausch, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, was appointed by former President Donald Trump in November 2017. We don’t know for sure if this attorney will uncover anything damaging to Biden. But the fact that the DOJ has already moved to investigate the matter is a big deal. After they spent so much time hounding Trump over his documents, going as far as to raid his home, they couldn’t simply ignore this.
The DOJ and FBI are already in the doghouse with most Americans. If they at all want to win back respect from the country, they need to show they care about upholding law and justice. And moving quickly to investigate this matter–with an attorney who will not be biased in favor of Biden–is a good start.
This scandal might not “take down” Joe, but it adds to the mountain of failures and controversies that surround this failed presidency.
