If Democrats had their way, we’d have zero fossil fuels. None. The only way we could generate electricity is via wind and solar–two technologies that fail more often than succeed. It would be like going back to the Stone Ages, forced to rub sticks together to get fire.
But Biden ignores this reality, blindly forcing Americans to rely more and more on bad “green” technology. In the “green” state of California, they’ve passed numerous laws to shut down fossil fuels. Big surprise, the state faces blackout threats every year during the summer, since their green energy sources cannot provide enough electricity to meet demand.
Now, it looks like the left’s hatred for fossil fuels has led to significant neglect of their power grid. Because just the other day, a devastating fire left tens of thousands in the dark–and countless stranded.
On Sunday, the Oakland Airport in Northern California was temporarily closed after a Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) electrical substation caught fire at 1 pm, a blaze that also left 50,000 residents in Oakland and Alameda without power for hours.
“…We were able to gain access into the PG&E yard and found that there was a transformer actively burning.” […]
In the airport, passengers were stuck and waiting at the gates, in security lines, and for an inoperative baggage claim. The Bay Area Rapid Transit, which provides travel to and from the airport, was also shut down. [Source: The Post Millennial]

Some are already suggesting the fire was the result of an attack on the substation. If so, it will be one of several attacks in recent months. But there is yet to see any evidence of an attack. More likely, this is the result of a state that has refused to support its power grid.
California has burned through billions of tax dollars on radical, leftist causes. They have spent taxpayer money to fund illegal immigration, providing aliens with free housing, food, and more. The Democrat majority in this state has shut down reliable sources of energy like oil and gas and has nearly crippled the industry.
Why shouldn’t there be fires at substations? California has done nothing to invest in or improve its power grid. Whenever blackouts come rolling in, they buy their energy from neighboring states. Leftist California has become a burden on the rest of the country.
Now, it can’t even keep its airports functioning. What is going to happen next?
