As we’ve documented previously, a growing civil war seems to be going on among Democrats. And it has to do with supporting Israel.
Far-left progressives have sided with anti-Israel groups. In some cases, Democrats in Washington are trying to put conditions on aid to the Jewish state.
This has generated quite a bit of backlash among Americans, including numerous Jewish celebrities. Iconic comedian and SNL alum Jon Lovitz called out so-called Democratic socialists in Congress. And he branded them with a two-word condemnation.
Comedic actor and outspoken Israel supporter Jon Lovitz went on a tear against Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and members of the Democratic “Squad” for their opposition to the Jewish State.
Lovitz, who is Jewish, declared Sanders the “best example” of a “self-loathing Jew,” calling him “disgusting,”…
“And [Sanders is] saying, you know, we shouldn’t have money for, you know, fund Israel, you know, and the Squad, those people… It’s no secret they’re horribly antisemitic,” he said. [Source: Fox News]
Jon Lovitz, known for his work on TV and film, called out Democrats in Congress for their opposition to Israel. He singled out Sen. Bernie Sanders, a Democratic socialist and Jewish senator. Lovitz blasted Sanders over his recent attempts at setting conditions on U.S. aid to Israel.
Lovitz went on to criticize the group of progressive Democrats in the House known as the “squad.” He rebuked them for their efforts at stopping funds for Israel, calling them “horribly anti-Semitic.”
Several members of this squad have faced heavy criticism over their apparent anti-Israel stances. Long before the October 7th attacks and subsequent war, Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Cori Bush have been outspoken in their opposition to Israel.
Their fellow member, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has also expressed similar sentiments in the past (but might not be as outspoken, given the large Jewish population in her home state of New York).
These anti-Israel Democrats have often been used of also being anti-Semitic, though they claim they are not.
Numerous moderate Democrats have spoken out against progressives who seemingly support Hamas. Many leftists, including college students, have supported marches, protests, and rallies that have accused Israel of oppressing the Palestinians.
Often, they chant slogans that call for the destruction of the Jewish state.
This rift among liberals might only get worse. Despite the news of a temporary ceasefire in the war, it is likely that Israel will continue to make efforts to root out Hamas. And progressive might continue to oppose it.
