Nikki Haley was the last holdout of the GOP presidential primaries. She held on far longer than most thought, depriving the party of valuable time and resources to build momentum against Joe Biden.
Only after it was painfully obvious she could not defeat Donald Trump, she dropped out of the race.
Since then, she has been shockingly quiet. Many former GOP candidates have been busying working the campaign trial for the party. Some, like Ron DeSantis, have even vowed to raise money for the 2024 Elections, ensuring big wins for the GOP. Now, after weeks of nothing, Haley is breaking her silence.
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley said on Wednesday that she will be voting for former President Donald Trump this fall over President Joe Biden…
“A president who would support capitalism and freedom. A president who understands we need less debt, not more debt. Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I’ve made that clear many, many times. But Biden has been a catastrophe.”
“… Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me and not assume that they’re just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does that.” [Source: Daily Wire]
Nikki Haley officially endorsed Donald Trump for president. The former Trump official seemed to add plenty of asterisks to her endorsement. It was hardly a glowing plug like many others have given to Trump.
It seems Haley is reluctantly backing Trump, considering the alternative is another four years with failed Joe Biden. Haley seemed to give Trump a backhanded compliment when she said he’s “not perfect.”
She could not resist complimenting herself while plugging another candidate. Haley had to remind Trump of the “millions” of people who voted for her during the primaries. She told Trump to reach out to these voters instead of just assuming “they going to be with him.”
Haley should recall that she failed to come close to Trump’s delegate count. And that her campaign was propped up by Democrat donors (and voters) who didn’t want Trump in the general election. Haley was torched by many conservatives for her pro-war stance. Others were shocked when she pushed policies that would have destroyed free speech online (such as forcing social media users to reveal their real names).
It is unlikely that her endorsement will do much to move the needle. Biden is doing terribly in swing state polls, thanks to his failed policies. Trump is building sympathy among many voters, due to what are turning out to be disastrous Democrat-run trials against him.
Trump is surely not eyeing Haley for another post within his administration. Which could be why she has been so late in endorsing him.
