This week, Hunter Biden went to court to face federal gun charges. Signs did not bode well for this case. President Biden seemed involved in trying to tip the scales in his son’s favor. He even released a statement on the day the trial began to perhaps generate sympathy for his son.
The trial moved very quickly, unlike Donald Trump’s New York trial—which dragged on for weeks.
Hunter was facing charges connected to making false statements on a form while purchasing a gun as well as possessing a firearm while abusing drugs. The jurors deliberated for only a short time. And, today, they have released their shocking verdict.
First son Hunter Biden was found guilty on all charges in his historic criminal case focused on his purchase of a firearm in 2018…
Prosecutors worked to prove that Hunter Biden lied on a federal firearm form, known as ATF Form 4473, in October 2018 when he ticked a box labeled “No” when asked if he is an unlawful user of a firearm or addicted to controlled substances…
After the verdict was read, Hunter Biden was seen smiling in the courtroom. He did not show signs of emotion, but hugged his attorney Abbe Lowell and other members of his defense team. Hunter Biden kissed his wife and walked out of the courtroom. [Source: Fox News]
Hunter Biden was found guilty of all charges related to a federal gun crime. This will undoubtedly make waves across the country, as it is the first time a sitting president’s son was convicted of a crime. Despite the terrible verdict, Hunter was reportedly smiling in the courtroom and left quickly.
Why did Hunter respond this way? Perhaps he assumes that nothing will come of this, because of his father. Joe Biden has the power to pardon his son. But doing so could bring unexpected consequences in an election year.
If Biden pardons Hunter, critics will explode with fury. They will accuse Biden of abusing his power to benefit his family—something Republicans have accused Biden of doing for years. But if he doesn’t pardon Hunter, he might very well go to jail.
This is a dark day for the Biden family, regardless. Republicans will use this to further drive home their claims that Joe and Hunter engaged in other criminal activity, including acquiring bribes from foreign entities.
