The Olympics, historically a stage for athletic excellence and unity, has recently been overshadowed by the influence of woke politics. Athletes and spectators alike are witnessing how political correctness and social justice agendas are transforming the Olympic experience. The worst, of course, has been the opening ceremonies and men competing against women.
But that is only the tip of the iceberg of the insanity going on behind the scenes.
Whenever a nation prepares for the Olympic Games, it spends considerable money on building facilities. Some of that money comes from the Olympic committee, of course. But you can imagine how some countries might want to pinch pennies in the massive undertaking of building stadiums, parks, and housing. This year, while Paris bragged about the venues it provided for the competition, they cut back on something you didn’t see. And it was so bad for some athletes, they were forced to sleep outside.
Thomas Ceccon may have won an Olympic gold in Paris, but it’s hard to say whether a good night’s sleep contributed…
Saudi rower Husein Alireza was walking around last week when he spotted Ceccon actually resting up in the middle of the lawn, simply just laying on a sheet next to a bench.
Village conditions are a story at every Olympic Games, but this year it’s been said that meats are uncooked, food portions are not enough, and bed mattresses have been compared to cardboard.
Air conditioning has also been lacking, as numerous athletes have brought fans after the Games announced a more climate-friendly cooling system. [Source: Fox News]
The woke Olympic official responsible for building the Paris games infrastructure opted not to put air conditioning in the housing for athletes. That’s right, even though it is summer and these young men and women will need rest to perform at their best, the Olympic committee refused to put A/C in their rooms.
Yann Krysinski claims air conditioning was “not necessary” because the rooms were magically built to not get hot. That is a load. The committee was using woke environmental claims to avoid spending the money to provide a comfortable place for the very people competing.
Thomas Ceccon, a gold medalist from Italy, was seen sleeping outside because of how hot his room was. Other athletes were told to bring fans because those “special” rooms were so hot. But that isn’t the worst! Apparently, the food was terrible. Meat wasn’t even cooked, and the portions were not enough. Can’t blame climate change on that, Krysinski, but on the cheapskates in Paris.
For decades, the Olympics were a high point in the lives of billions of people. Fans from across the globe cheered on their nation’s athletes. Nations came together in the spirit of sportsmanship. Yet today, the games have been marred by the same woke nonsense poisoning many American sports. The officials of the Olympics care more about pushing a socialist/progressive cause than celebrating greatness. If this continues to be the case, who knows how many people will just stop caring?
