Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez loves to make waves with her comments, especially when it comes to Israel. But let’s face it, her message on this issue is about as consistent as a flip-flopping fish. One moment, she’s playing diplomat, claiming she supports peace and a two-state solution.
The next, she’s joining the anti-Israel chorus, calling out the Jewish state for “aggression” without bothering to acknowledge the real instigators of violence: groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. AOC’s messaging might appeal to her far-left base, but it doesn’t hold up under scrutiny.
In typical fashion, Ocasio-Cortez jumps on every opportunity to criticize Israel, often without waiting for all the facts to come in. Her latest hot take? Slamming Israel’s defensive strikes against Hezbollah. Never mind that Hezbollah, like Hamas, started the fight in the first place.
Nope, for AOC, it’s all about making Israel look like the bad guy. But anyone paying attention can see right through her inconsistency. Israel is defending itself from terrorists, yet AOC would have you believe it’s the aggressor. It’s a convenient narrative for her, but it’s far from the truth.
On Thursday’s broadcast of NewsNation’s “Cuomo,” Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) reacted to criticism of Israel’s strikes against Hezbollah from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)…
“Don’t be so eager to jump on an issue because some people on the — might be jumping on it who are generally her supporters, but wait to see what it’s like and to judge it. But also, to understand that this has been a war that Hamas started on October 7, Hezbollah has continued, and Israel needs to defend itself. This is the way that they are defending themselves.” [Source: Breitbart]
During a recent appearance on NewsNation’s “Cuomo,” Rep. Steve Cohen, a Democrat from Tennessee, had a message for AOC: slow down. In response to her attacks on Israel, Cohen suggested that maybe AOC shouldn’t be so quick to jump on the anti-Israel bandwagon.
He pointed out that while AOC’s supporters might cheer her on, she should take a step back and understand the situation before rushing to judgment.
Cohen didn’t mince words when he reminded AOC—and everyone listening—that Hamas started this war, Hezbollah is keeping it going, and Israel is simply defending itself. Cohen even highlighted that the vast majority of Democrats—90%, to be exact—are in favor of Israel’s right to defend itself.
This includes the current Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris. But AOC? She’s too busy catering to the far-left fringe that would rather point fingers at Israel than acknowledge the very real threats it faces.
Cohen’s advice to AOC was clear: don’t let the loudest voices in your corner push you into making hasty, ill-informed statements. It’s one thing to be critical of a foreign policy decision; it’s another to do so without understanding the full context. Israel is dealing with terrorist groups that want to wipe it off the map.
And while AOC may be quick to criticize, the fact is, Israel’s strikes are part of its right to self-defense—something most of the world, including Democrats, understands.
