GOP Leader Drops Hammer on Trump Nemesis, This Could Bring True Justice

GOP Leader Drops Hammer on Trump Nemesis, This Could Bring True Justice

Jack Smith, the special counsel with a penchant for high-profile cases, has made it his life’s work to go after Donald Trump. From the moment he was appointed, it was clear he had one goal: take down the 45th president.

Smith’s aggressive pursuit of Trump, whether through charges of election interference or mishandling classified documents, became a spectacle of lawfare.

Critics argue that his cases were thinly veiled political maneuvers, considering Smith was appointed under the Biden administration.

But here’s the twist: Smith’s fiery legal crusade fizzled the moment Trump reclaimed the presidency. Like a schoolyard bully who realizes the principal is watching, Smith pulled his cases.

Now, he’s attempting to quietly disappear. Unfortunately for him, Rep. Jim Jordan has other plans. As chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jordan is hot on Smith’s trail, determined to expose what he calls “prosecutorial misconduct.”

On Wednesday, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the chairman of the House Committee on the Judiciary, fired off a letter to the Biden Department of Justice demanding the Office of Professional Responsibility provide critical information about the operations of Special Counsel Jack Smith and his team’s efforts to prosecute Donald Trump…

This week, Rep. Jim Jordan fired off a scathing letter to the Department of Justice (DOJ), demanding accountability for Jack Smith’s alleged misconduct.

Jordan’s letter, addressed to Jeffrey Ragsdale of the DOJ’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), accuses Smith and his team of manipulating evidence, lying to a federal court, and improperly pressuring defense attorneys.

Jordan’s beef isn’t new. Back in May, the Judiciary Committee began asking questions about Smith’s methods, particularly in relation to the Mar-a-Lago raid.

By August, Jordan had raised concerns about J.P. Cooney, a key member of Smith’s team, who was also accused of professional misconduct. Despite repeated requests for transparency, the OPR stalled, claiming investigations could “jeopardize” Smith’s prosecutions. Convenient timing, isn’t it?

Here’s the kicker: after Trump’s election victory, Smith magically allowed the OPR to investigate his team. According to Jordan, this permission was granted only because the cases were being wrapped up.

Translation? Smith was no longer worried about his legal antics interfering with active prosecutions. Jordan called this out as “absurd,” slamming the DOJ for essentially letting Smith police himself.

Jordan isn’t buying Smith’s excuses—or those of the DOJ. His letter demands the preservation of all records tied to Smith’s cases, warning that any destruction of evidence will be met with consequences.

Jordan’s suspicions aren’t unfounded. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton recently voiced similar concerns, filing a request to preserve Smith’s records. Paxton warned that Smith’s team had a track record of “losing” inconvenient documents.

The implications are huge. If Smith’s team manipulated evidence or coerced attorneys, as Jordan alleges, it could undermine not just the cases against Trump but the integrity of the DOJ itself.

This isn’t just about legal ethics—it’s about whether federal prosecutors are abusing their power for political ends.

Jordan’s relentless pursuit of Smith is emblematic of a broader fight against the so-called “swamp.” For years, conservatives have argued that federal agencies, including the DOJ, have been weaponized against political opponents.

Smith’s actions—and the DOJ’s apparent reluctance to hold him accountable—are Exhibit A.

Jordan’s efforts aim to shine a light on these abuses and restore trust in government institutions. Whether he succeeds depends on how deeply entrenched the swamp really is.

But one thing is clear: Jack Smith won’t be riding off into the sunset without answering some tough questions.
