Governor DeSantis Drops 2024 Bombshell

Plenty of news has come out of the 2021 CPAC conference. The major conservative event featured leading Republicans who gave fiery speeches over the week. Most of them are up-and-coming leaders, who are taking a strong stand against Joe Biden and the left’s radical agenda. They have sent a signal to America that they–and he GOP–will not be lying down over the next four years.

This event was more than just enjoying some memorable speeches. It provides a glimpse into the future of the conservative movement. More specifically, it gives us a hint of how major elections will shape up in the coming years. We can see how hard Republicans will fight to take back Congress in 2022. And some political pundits are considering how 2024 might actually look.

Some Americans are looking at CPAC to see who could be the leader of the party. Is there a new face that can take up the conservative mantel and run with it to the White House? During the conference, they conducted straw polls to see how attendees felt about the future of the GOP. And aside from Trump, this one governor is a 2024 frontrunner.

A Washington Times/CPAC poll released on Sunday showed that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) would dominate the Republican field of presidential candidates for 2024 if former President Donald Trump decides not to run for president again…

More than two-thirds of respondents said that they wanted Trump to run again, while 15% said they did not, and 17% were unsure…

If Trump were to run for president again, 55% of respondents said they would vote for him, followed by 21% for DeSantis, and 4% for South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. If Trump is not on the ticket in 2024, 43% of respondents said that they would vote for DeSantis, followed by 11% for Noem. [Source: Daily Wire]

The vast majority of respondents want the party to continue Trump’s policies, around 95%. It shouldn’t be a surprise, then, to see that he is the top pick for the 2024 ticket. But if he doesn’t run, Ron DeSantis is a clear leader among the pack. He received a large portion of support among respondents, far and away more than any other candidate.

This comes as no surprise, given DeSantis’s history. As governor of Florida, he has had a much better success with COVID than most other states. He dropped all restrictions long ago, allowing residents to resume normal life. Early on, he targeted nursing homes and the elderly as top priority, outperforming Democrat-run states. And even with heavy criticism and slander from the liberal media, his state’s stats are comparable to California.

On top of that, he recently vowed to battle big tech censorship–promising to fight social media sites who shut down free speech.

During CPAC, DeSantis gave his own powerful speech, inspiring many listeners. Right now, there appears to be a lack of strong, uncompromising voices in the GOP. Plenty of so-called Republicans want to bow to the swamp, to curry favor with Biden or to save their skins. That’s not going over well with Republican voters, who continue to stand with Trump.

Ron DeSantis took a tough stance for his state and is reaping the rewards. And he just might be the future of the party.
