At the peak of the 2020 COVID hysteria, Florida was the first state to say “enough is enough.” Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis bucked the far-left’s agenda and reopened the state, dropping lockdown restrictions and mask mandates. Despite outrage from Democrats, the state has not been “swallowed up” by the virus. They have managed better than many states of similar size.
On top of that, the governor worked closely to ensure all residents who wanted to be vaccinated, were vaccinated. On top of that, the state was the leader in using innovative and effective treatments that saved countless lives. But even as Florida was seeing success treating sick patients, Joe Biden cut them off from these treatments. Now, the governor is fighting back.
Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Sunday the Biden administration is hostile toward his efforts to get treatment for coronavirus for Floridians, which the state has been offering in conjunction with vaccines for those who want them…
“Well, part of the reason we use more than other states is because we’ve actually embraced treatment,” DeSantis said. “Most of these other governors and the people like Fauci and the federal leadership, they basically say get a shot, wear a mask, and they never talk about treatment.”
“So to just not deal with treatment and be hostile to people like me who are, it shows so much of this is about a political agenda,” DeSantis said. “It’s about partisanship, and it’s not about the best interests of the American people, when you talk about how these folks are acting.” [Source: Breitbart]
Florida was seeing tremendous success using antibody treatments for COVID patients. They set up centers all over the state specifically for this purpose. Not only did that help save lives, but it took a huge burden off of hospitals—a major issue during the pandemic. Yet despite this success, Biden cut off Florida from receiving more antibody treatments in September.
DeSantis bashed Biden, saying his administration did this purely over politics. They claimed Florida was using this treatment “too much,” but only because most states focused on a limited, less-effective method of dealing with the virus. They demanded Americans to get vaccinated and wear a mask. That’s it. Very few Democrats realized that we needed to focus on treatment as much as prevention.
The governor called out Biden and the left for their short-sighted approach. He accused them of partisanship and neglecting the “best interests of the American people.” He’s not far from the truth. Despite all the attacks, Florida continues to do much better compared to far-left states like California and New York.
We don’t have to wonder why. Florida has zero restrictions and no vaccine mandate. Any resident can get the vaccine, but in addition to that, the state has focused on life-saving treatments. This approach is working, but the biased left refuses to see it.
Are they so poisoned by partisanism that they can’t appreciate a winning tactic from a Republican? Looks that way.
