The Supreme Court has rejected Donald Trump’s push to stop a slew of documents and records from going to the January 6th committee this Wednesday.
The court refused to accept Donald Trump’s appeal, which was ruled on by two lower court decisions. Justice Clarence Thomas sat alone in approving Trump’s request, and the decision means over 700 papers and documents could soon be going to the January 6 House committee, which has been looking into the alleged riot at the United States Capitol.
The choice is a win for the January 6 committee, which said that their efforts would “lead to certain legislative recommendations created to stop any future attacks on the government institutions of the Republic,” NBC News said. At this same time, it is a huge blow to Donald Trump, as his efforts to keep these documents private and out of the hands of the vengeful committee is now over.
Trump has routinely argued that these documents should stay secret because of executive privilege. The January 6 committee’s request of papers includes any communication between the Dept. of Justice and the Trump White House during the moments before the riot.
President Biden pushed for the papers to be given over, repeatedly rejecting Donald Trump’s executive privilege claims.
“President Biden has said that an assertion of executive privilege was not in the best interests of the country, and so is not justified concerning any of the documents,” White House Counsel Dana Remus said in a letter to the National Archives last year.
This comes at a time when Joe Biden and the Democrats are falling in the polls very quickly. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has only gained support among all Americans and they see what a terrible job Joe Biden has done.
The Democrats are clearly desperate to ban Donald Trump from office to keep him from running again in 2024. They know that given their numbers and their far-left agenda, which is very unpopular, they have no chance of ever winning office again. Not unless they rig the game through election laws or through blocking Trump from even entering the race.
