This week, House Republican leaders, including Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY), and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) unveiled the House GOP Taskforce Leaders, who will focus on key problems before the midterm elections in order to regain the majority in the lower chamber and remedy Pres. Biden’s failures.
Republicans, who are preparing for the midterms, have formed task forces on a number of themes, such as the economy, national security, and China responsibility. First, Republican leaders highlighted the dangerous reality of Biden’s failed agenda, which includes record-breaking gas prices, inflation, and an insecure border.
The Republicans, according to McCarthy, are here to listen to the American people and find solutions to problems “created by the Democrats.” Gas prices are one of the major issues overlooked by Democrats, according to him. Biden’s poor governance has resulted in Americans paying thousands more than they otherwise would have paid, according to McCarthy. Prices of houses and consumer items are continuously rising as a result of Biden’s poorly implemented policies, he added. Crime is also on the rise because of Democratic ideas.
“Can we afford their plans for the border?” he asked, calling attention to the fact that fentanyl is crossing into the United States. “Can we afford their foreign policy?” the Republican leader asked, before handing it over to Scalise, who declared that Americans “across the country are talking about the same issues” — outrage over high costs and far-left policies that has brought us to this point.
“It’s no surprise that prices have increased over 50 percent in a year and a half, because it was Biden who said there would be no new pipelines or oil and gas extraction in the United States,” Scalise added. That is why the Republican Party has formed task forces to address these issues, such as gas prices going up, border security being maintained, price inflation being addressed, and parents having a say in their children’s education.
When they have the majority, Rep. Scalise wondered what Biden would do when they send him these fixes. “The stakes could not be higher for Americans as they face the worst inflation crisis in 40 years and pay the highest gas prices in history,” Stefanik said. She added that once and for all, Republicans intend to get rid of “lame duck” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
