If US President Joe Biden ends the last set of Trump-era border restrictions, top officials from the ICE agency are said to be preparing for a “mass migration event” along the US-Mexico border.
Biden is thinking of ending the CDC’s Title 42 order, which Trump originally imposed, giving federal immigration officials broad power to fast return illegals to their native countries, according to reports.
An internal ICE communication, published by the Washington Post, advised senior officials that they should be prepared for a “mass migration event” if Biden terminates Title 42. The email also said that government workers should collaborate with non-governmental organizations to expedite the processing of tens of thousands of border crossers and unlawful immigrants into the country.
Last week, Breitbart News reported about Biden’s Department of Homeland Security considering ending Title 42 on April 1, 2022. Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-TX) claims such a shift will double the number of illegal immigrants who cross the Mexican border monthly.
Biden’s top-level staff are preparing for “a staggering increase of more than 170,000” illegal immigrants if Title 42 is abolished, according to Axios. Biden’s administration predicts that around 25,000 foreign nationals will try to rush the border when he ends Title 42.
Sens. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Chuck Schumer (Dem-NY), Cory Booker (Dem-NJ), and Alex Padilla (Dem-CA) have urged Biden to remove Title 42, while Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (Dem-AZ) and Mark Kelly (Dem-AZ) have requested the administration to keep exercising it
“Given the potential consequences of Title 42 modifications on border security and communities, and migrants, we request that your White House not make any adjustments to Title 42 implementation until it is fully prepared to execute and manage a comprehensive approach that guarantees an orderly and humane process at the United States border,” they stated.
Meanwhile, the National Immigration Forum, which has been financed by Mark Zuckerberg, has been urging Biden to eliminate Title 42 for months. Bush administration alums have slammed the policy as “arbitrary and harmful,” while advocating for its elimination.
Over two million illegal migrants and border crossers arrived at the southern border in 2021. This year, experts anticipate more than 2.1 million people will come.
At the same time, many hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants and border crossers are being released into the U.S. interior every few months. For example, from January 2021 to August 2021, more than 500,000 illegal aliens were let go into the United States interior.
In January of this year, almost 62,500 illegal immigrants and border crossers were let into the United States’ interior — a foreign population roughly twice the size of Princeton, New Jersey; nearly double that of Lexington, Massachusetts; and six times that of Jackson, Wyoming.
