Trump Scores Win Against FBI–Judge Agrees to Consider His Request for a ‘Special Master’

Americans still demand many answers from the unprecedented and infamous FBI raid on Mar-a-Largo. The pathetic excuse they gave–that Trump was ‘illegally’ holding onto classified records–has failed to convince many that the raid was justified. As we’ve heard repeatedly, presidents have kept records after leaving office. And they have special privilege when it comes to documents from their administration.

Yet the DOJ–and Joe Biden’s administration–ignored all that to stage a raid that many believe was politically motivated.

Trump must assume the DOJ used the raid as a pretense to search his home. We know they took documents not under the scope of the warrant. That includes documents the FBI has no right to see, because they are protected by attorney-client privilege. But, it’s possible this entire raid was a stunt to find dirt on Trump by Democrats. Trump’s team made a demand to protect him and his family.

And it looks like a federal judge is making it possible.

A federal judge has sided with former President Donald Trump and announced her “preliminary intent to appoint a special master” to review the documents seized by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago earlier this month.

A “special master” would review documents and materials to determine which are protected by attorney-client privilege and executive privilege, barring the Department of Justice (DOJ) from using them…

“Pursuant to Rule 53(b)(1) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the Court’s inherent authority, and without prejudice to the parties’ objections, the Court hereby provides notice of its preliminary intent to appoint a special master in this case,” Cannon wrote in a filing.

Judge Aileen M. Cannon, a Trump appointee, appears to be siding with Trump on appointing a special master. She expressed her “preliminary intent” to pick someone who would review the documents seized by the FBI, to determine which ones are protected from their greasy fingers.

Of course, Biden’s DOJ is against this move. They very reason they raided Trump’s home, it seems, was to get their hands on documents they would not have otherwise seen. It’s hard not to believe this entire raid was a farce.

Trump was cooperating with the FBI and National Archives. He had sent boxes of documents to the National Archives earlier in the year. And his team made it clear they were willing to send over anything else they requested. So, as you might expect, there was no need to storm his home with 30+ armed agents to take everything and anything they saw.

Could they have done this, just to find something to use against Trump? I think we’d have to be very naive to think this was really about classified documents Trump himself declassified.

This was a pathetic and desperate stab by the left, who knows they are going to lose big this year and in 2024.

But a special master will totally invalidate their scheme. This independent person will be able to remove from the DOJ’s clutches the very documents they were trying to steal.
