Southern Blue City Admits Defeat on Crime–Gives Chilling Warning to Residents

We’ve gotten used to hearing about the rising crime epidemic in Democrat-run cities along the West Coast and up North. Thanks to radical activists on city councils and far-left district attorneys, many cities have slashed police budgets and eliminated laws that punish criminals. In some cities, they no longer prosecute shoplifting. Crime has gotten so bad that countless stores shut down.

But this cancer isn’t just being felt in the usual places. Even in the conservative South, there are pockets of leftists who are seeking to undermine law and order. In one blue city, they seem to be just as soft on crime as they are in Seattle or San Francisco. Crime has skyrocketed, big surprise. And now, the city is admitting it can’t even keep its residents safe.

Carjackings in New Orleans, Louisiana have more than doubled since before the Covid-19 pandemic began nearly three years ago, increasing 165 percent over that period, city data shows.

The city has seen a significant rise in violent crime, including skyrocketing homicides, with the highest per capita rate among cities in the United States. The Big Easy saw 273 carjackings in the last year alone, compared to 103 in 2019…

Crime was so bad in the Pelican state’s largest city last year that the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) had to put a public notice out that it would be hiring civilians to do police work, as cops had left the force in droves. [Source: The Post Millennial]

What!? A big city that’s run by Democrats is facing a surge in crime? Why, I would have never thought that would happen!

It’s almost as if every Democrat got together and decided they need more crime in their cities. Because New Orleans, a city that’s been run by Democrats for years (despite being in a largely conservative state) has seen violent crime skyrocket over the last three years.

And we’re not just talking about carjackings. Homicides are up 14% in 2023. Last year was the deadliest year for New Orleans since 1996. And the same time, cops are fleeing the force en masse, forcing them to resort to civilians to do some police work.

Gee, I wonder why all this is happening? You know why. Democrats in big cities have defunded police departments, slandered our men and women in blue, and passed laws that eliminated cash bail and put criminals back on the streets.

Listen, if you want to stop crime, you have to enforce the laws. That means getting tough on criminals. We’re not living in a nursery school book. There are gross, evil people out there. And the only thing that will stop them from destroying our communities is the fear of the law.

But when Democrats stop enforcing the law, the only result is chaos.
