Recently, liberals have expressed fears about Joe Biden going up against Donald Trump in a debate. Some have suggested it would “legitimize” Donald Trump, even though his nomination would already have legitimized his campaign.
Others admitted that Biden could fumble during an intense debate with the former president. Biden has suffered numerous setbacks because of his struggles speaking publically.
But Fox News’ Laura Ingraham turned the tables and asked Trump about debating Joe Biden. Would the former president go toe-to-toe against the Democrat? This is what Trump promised to the news host.
Former President Donald Trump says he’s ready to face off with President Biden on the debate stage.
Trump, the commanding frontrunner for the 2024 Republican race, on Tuesday reiterated his call for Biden to debate him this year as the two move closer to a rematch of their 2020 presidential election face-off…
Asked by host Laura Ingraham during a Fox News town hall held in Greenville, South Carolina if he’ll challenge the president to a debate, Trump quickly answered “I’ll do it right now on your show. I’ll challenge him right now.”
“I think you have an obligation in this case, you really have an obligation to debate, Trump emphasized. “As many as necessary. I could do it starting now.”

When asked if he’d debate Biden, Trump told Ingraham that he’d do it “right now” on her show. Trump went on to say that a presidential candidate has an “obligation” to debate his opponents.
But it is unknown if Biden will debate Trump, should Trump win the GOP nomination. Biden refused to debate or even acknowledge Robert F. Kennedy Jr. when he was running as a Democrat.
Considering the many fears Democrats have over Biden’s performance (and possible cognitive decline), it wouldn’t be a surprise if Biden refuses to debate Trump. That would be unprecedented in U.S. history. But the party will likely point to Trump’s indictments, claiming Biden does not “have” to debate a man facing conviction.
Regardless of the excuse, many will believe it is because Biden’s cognitive decline is too far progressed for him to survive a debate. Even Trump doubts Biden will attend debates saying, “I don’t think he’s doing to debate.”
Should Biden opt out of debating Trump, it might do more harm to his campaign than good.
