The Biden campaign has tried to slam Donald Trump over how he’s been paying his legal fees. Democrats have thrown many lawsuits and criminal trials at Trump. Many believe they are doing this to derail his 2024 campaign.
Trump has spent some of his campaign money on these legal challenges. Although this does not appear to illegal, Biden has still tried to slander Trump over this.
Now, Biden’s own dirty secret is spilling out of the closet. While he was attacking Trump for using campaign cash to pay lawyers and legal fees, the DNC was doing this to bail Biden out of his own problems.
President Biden used campaign donations to help pay his legal bills last year during the special counsel’s probe into his handling of classified documents, according to two people familiar with the matter and an Axios review of campaign finance records.
Why it matters: The payments, made through the Democratic National Committee, are at odds with the Biden campaign’s recent attacks on Donald Trump for spending his campaign funds on legal fees.
Driving the news: The DNC — which has been collecting the biggest donations to Biden’s re-election effort — paid more than $1.5 million to lawyers or firms representing Biden during the probe, according to the committee’s financial filings.[Source: Axios]
The DNC has paid over $1.5 million to lawyers or firms that have represented Joe Biden during the probe into his classified documents scandal. The Democrat National Committee is collecting the biggest donations for Biden’s reelection push.
It is the group that raises most of the money for Democrat candidates—often with tens of millions of dollars in cash on hand. And it has been spending this campaign money to cover Biden’s legal troubles.
Yet Biden was doing this, all the while attacking Trump for using campaign cash to pay for legal fees. It seems Biden was demanding Americans to believe his slander, all the while ignoring the fact he was doing the very same thing. This appears to be a common tactic of Biden’s—accuse your enemy of doing the very thing you are doing.
Biden was under investigation by a DOJ special counsel over his mishandling of classified documents. He took many classified documents with him after he left office as vice president—even though he did not have the authority to declassify them.
The special counsel found he did break the law, but declined to recommend charges. He claimed that Biden could not get an impartial verdict, given his advanced age and shockingly poor memory.]
