Days After Twitter Slams New York Times–They Expose Another Bogus Media Outlet

Slowly, but surely, social media is becoming tolerable again. Thanks to Elon Musk, Twitter might become the best social network for free speech and honest news. The new owner has been exposing the company’s previous liberal bias. And he has taken steps to ensure nobody is being censored and dishonest accounts are exposed for what they are.

Twitter handed left-leaning New York Times a defeat when it stripped away its verification badge. The newspaper refused to pay a mere $8 a month, so Twitter removed a badge that assured users this was an honest account. But Musk’s far from finished. The social network is applying new labels to accounts, so users understand who is behind those tweets.

And one major liberal network just got outed.

NPR was labeled as “US state-affiliated media” by Twitter on Tuesday night.

According to the social media platform’s guidelines, “Labels on government accounts provide additional context for accounts heavily engaged in geopolitics and diplomacy.”

“Labels on state-affiliated accounts provide additional context about accounts that are controlled by certain official representatives of governments, state-affiliated media entities, and individuals associated with those entities.”

The platform defined “state-affiliated media” as outlets where the state exercises control over editorial content through financial resources, direct or indirect political pressures, and/or control over production and distribution. Lol, oh wow. Twitter labeled the National Public Radio’s Twitter account as “state-affiliated media.” This label will accompany NPR’s tweets and content posted to the website, so users will know it is connected with the U.S. government.

According to Twitter’s rules, any account that is “controlled” by a government or its officials gets this label. Twitter seems to be singling out this liberal outlet, because it does not apply the same label to government-sponsored outlets like the BBC, saying that account has “editorial independence.”

Twitter is basically saying that NPR is just a mouthpiece for Democrats within the government. It is not an independent outlet that is reporting honestly. NPR claims only a fraction of its funding comes from the government. Yet independent reports suggest NPR gets as much as 25% of its funding from taxpayer dollars, with some member stations bringing in as much as 40% from public funds.

So… yeah, NPR is state-run media designed to brainwash Americans into believing Democrats. That little label might bring this to light to some users who didn’t already realize it. It will prevent NPR from pretending to be unbiased when reporting on the government.

Already, NPR reporters are getting nervous. But, hey, it’s true, isn’t it? Aren’t news outlets all for “transparency”? Then, they should have nothing to fear from this little label.
