For a time, pundits speculated that Gavin Newsom, governor of California, would run against Joe Biden. Some are even claiming Newsom is planning a “shadow campaign” should Biden be unable to run… for obvious reasons.
But Newsom himself has rejected those claims. In fact, he seems to have become a strong supporter–and defender–of Joe Biden and his family.
The governor seemed to go out of his way to promote the Biden administration. He even weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding Hunter Biden and Republicans’ impending impeachment. Newsom, like other Democrats, is not denying what Hunter did. But in trying to protect Joe, he might have outed his entire party.
During an interview with CNN… Gavin Newsom defended Hunter Biden against allegations he took advantage of his last name to secure business deals with foreign associates, suggesting that using family to “get a little influence” is “hardly unique.” […]
“If that’s the new criteria, there are a lot of folks in a lot of industries, not just in politics, where people have family members and relationships and they’re trying to parlay and get a little influence and benefit in that respect. That’s hardly unique.” [Source: The Post Millennial]
Newsom tried to downplay allegations that Hunter Biden used his father’s name to acquire bribes. The California Democrat claims that many people use their family to “get a little influence.” He even suggested such practices were “hardly unique.”
Democrats have recently appeared to try to protect Joe by claiming he had nothing to do with Hunter’s antics. They are not denying what Hunter may have done, but suggest Biden was not involved. Newsom appears to be going even further, suggesting this kind of behavior is normal in politics and “a lot of industries.”
Was Newsom admitting family members of Democrat politicians “parlay” their name to get special favors–even bribes?
Newsom has recently rejected calls for him to run against Biden in the Democratic primaries. Now, it appears he is defending his “loyalty” to the party by strongly endorsing Joe, Kamala, and their administration.
Republicans maintain that Joe Biden lied about his connections to Hunter’s businesses. Eye witness testimonies appear to confirm documents that implicate the Bidens in a bribery scheme. The mainstream media has parroted a White House claim that there is “no evidence” that should lead to a Biden impeachment.
