Trump has frequently criticized the case. He has called out the judge, whom he believes is biased against him.
The former president was expected to take the stand in his defense. But after watching how the case has been proceeding, Trump made this sudden decision.
On Sunday, former President Donald Trump reversed course and announced that he would not be testifying at his New York civil fraud case on Monday.
The announcement came in a series of posts on Truth Social in which Donald Trump stated that he has “already testified to everything” and has nothing more to say about the “corrupt” case, calling it “election interference” at the hands of President Biden’s “weaponized” Justice Department.
“As everyone knows, I have successfully and conclusively testified in the corrupt, Biden directed, New York State Attorney General’s rigged trial against me. World renowned experts, highly respected bank and insurance executives, real estate professionals, as well as others, both honest and credible, have stated, cleary and unequivocally, that I, and my very successful company, did nothing wrong! President Trump will not testify in the ongoing civil trial against himself and his business. The Republican made the announcement via his social network. He explained he had “already testified” and that he had nothing else to contribute.
He called the case “corrupt” and even “Biden directed,” suggesting the current president is behind this civil trial against him. He claimed the New York State attorney general had “rigged” the case against him.
The case revolves around claims by Democrat prosecutor Letitia James that Trump over-valued his properties while seeking loans from backs. Trump’s lawyers, as well as the banks in question, explained that it was normal for businesses to set a value that banks challenge.
Despite this, the Democrat-leaning attorney general’s office is trying to destroy Trump’s business and bleed him of hundreds of millions of dollars. Trump maintains he did nothing wrong. And many of his supporters believe this case is another attempt by Democrats to undermine his 2024 chances.
It’s unknown what will happen should Trump lose this case, regarding the election. His attorneys, however, will most certainly appeal to a higher court.
