Rep. Ilhan Omar is a radical, left-wing Democrat who makes not secret her hatred for Israel. She is member of the progressive squad, who seeks to undermine much of what America stands for. She even once forced congressional Democrats to denounce anti-Semitism, though they did not reprimand her comments.
Recently, however, she made statements that have many on alert. While speaking to a group of Somalis, it appears as if she confessed she working for a foreign country.
“As long as I am in the U.S. Congress, no one will take a way in the Somali sea or water. And I will not support the U.S. government in supporting other people to rob us. Rest assured that it will not happen, Minnesota. The lady that you sent to Congress knows about you, and she feels your interest like you all do.”

During a speech before a group of Somalies, Rep. Omar claims that she is advocating for a foreign nation, as a member of Congress. This comes just months after a U.S. senator, Bob Mendez, was indicted over bribery charges and serving as a foreign advocate for Egypt.
From the various translations provided online, it sounds as if Omar is putting the interests of Somalia ahead of her own district in Minnesota. She even seems to imply that Somali-American citizens who voted for her did so, so she could pursue the interests of the foreign country first.
This has provoked outrage from many Republicans. Lawmakers have demanded answers for Omar’s comments. And one top Republican governor is making this bold demand.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) called for the expulsion of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) after she gave a speech expressing irredentist views about her homeland, Somalia…
“Expel from Congress, denaturalize and deport!” DeSantis said in a post on X, responding to Omar’s speech. [Source: Washington Examiner]

Gov. DeSantis echoed other Republicans when he called for Omar to be expelled from Congress over her recent comments. He went on to say that she should be “denaturalized”—meaning, she should lose her American citizenship. And that she should be deported as well.
It is unclear what consequences Omar will face over her comments. She claimed they were being taken out of context, though it is hard to find a context that doesn’t sound as if she is advocating for another nation within the U.S. Congress.
